Gayware FAIL

I found another piece of the 1950's Kitchen container brand 'Gayware' I had been coveting on the internet. The elusive cheese dish! I snaffled that baby up for $36. Bargain! This brought the total amount of items I need to complete my collect to the minuscule number of 3!

Behold! The cheese gayware dish

Unfortunately stories like these do not always end up like eBay fairy tales. Because this my friends, is how my new prized possession arrived.

" Nooooooo! "

No. It was not unceremoniously shoved in the letterbox. The manager of the postage centre brought it to my front door with most sincere apologies. As I knew, it had been raining in Brisbane for over a week. The postage contracter slipped over in the rain and fell on top of my treasured Gayware container.

The box and bubble that contained it would have been no match for whole man's weight. I can't get too angry because as in life, these things do happen. Thankfully I had the good sense to purchase postage insurance. The $2.70 ensures I get my $36 + postage reimbursed to me.

The thing is ... when will find another one of these containers in such good condition again? They are a dying breed! If I see one again how much will it be then? $50? $100? The price of Gayware just goes up and up as it becomes more & more collectable. It's almost an investment. I know I would much rather have another container than my money back.

If anyone ever sees a white and red one out and about in the antique stores please don't hesitate to email me and let me know! I will love you forever! ♥

Ok the NEXT post will be 'fail' free. I promise!
