TCB Magazine Lucky 7 Party

Sunday 1st March was the TCB Magazine lucky 7 party, help to celebrate their 7th issue. TCB (Tattoos, Cars, Bikes) is an Australian independently run magazine full of old school cars, bikes, lowbrow art and artist profiles, pin-up photos.

The event was held at the Broadway hotel that had nifty parking for all the sweet rides and some space for the stalls. It was such a hot day though that I spend most of the time undercover sitting around with friends, eating food and watching the Ten Fours play.

When I did venture out into the heat. I found this awesome little bike. I love the green mental flake, pin striping and black crocodile leather seat. It was so small and cute I couldn't help but think it was a Drea sized bike :D Heh. Heh.

I stole this photo from Kerry, but I love this El Camino and I didn't get a full shot of it myself. I think this is best flame job I've ever seen on a car. Usually I think flames look tacky and awful, but Kamikaze, the owner has done a great job.

All in all it was a fun and relaxing day. I picked up the latest 2 issues of the magazine that I didn't have yet, caught up with mates and saw some guy do a really awesome burnout while leaving the driveway! I should have taken a photo of those tyre marks!

I ♥ Smeg Retro Fridges & Dishwashers.

I plan on having a deliciously vintage kitchen when I own my own home featuring the colours of red, pale blue and cream. Right now I am SO in love with the Smeg retro appliances. Of all the available colours, my favourite is the cream!

Aren't they just gorgeous?! They aren't cheap though. And sure you can get an original old fridge/dishwasher, but the efficiency would have nothing on the Smeg's modern technology. I'm all for saving electricity and water these days! The Smeg's star ratings are pretty good from what I've seen.

Brisbane Stray Cats Concert 2009

So as we all know the legendary Stray Cats are on their farewell tour. Once again they have graced the shores of Australia after 17 years. I would have been 3 years old then folks! Brisbane got two shows. The Thursday night show that frantically sold out within a week and the Friday night to make those who sorely missed out stop stamping their feet. I was one of those but I switched my Friday ticket with a mate for Thursday night. And boy was it a night!!!

The Chrome Daddies played support. It's always excellent to see a great local band score such an awesome gig! Last time I saw them play was in a 100 year old pub out Ipswich way. So it was very different seeing them on the massive stage inside The Tivoli! Yeeeehoo!

But yes, to the point ... The Stray Cats! The came onstage to a roar. They played, they crowd pleased and Loretta and I may have screamed like fan girls. They had a very fancy, spectacular lit up sign and even garbage cans on stage. My friends and I scored an awesome spot on the balcony and had a fantastic view all night without being overly squished, unlike the poor mob at the front barriers. Toward to end of the night my mate Wally pulled me 2 steps aside into open space for a dance. How's that? I can say I've danced to the Stray Cats as they played live!

And since my photos all look the same. Have a gander at a short video I took at the end of their opening song, Rumble in Brixton.

After the gig a troupe of us wandered through the Valley in search of Pizza. We found some at New York Slice. After we ate most of us went home seeing they had work on Friday in the morning. The lucky ones who had the forethought to take the next day off went out to the clubs! But not I, I had work too. I'm sure Brian Setzer, Slim Jim and Lee Rocker were getting a few good Zzz's after a big gig like that too! I could be wrong though ...
