I dearly wanted to do this shoot because this is working on an old car as I know it, not sitting on a clean bonnet of a 'finished car' sporting an oversized spanner and a bandanna. You all know the ones I'm talking about. I've actually done quite a lot of work on this car under the guidance of my very patient boyfriend, so I wanted to illustrate a more realistic version to contrast against those super clean, super primped pin-ups.

Amazingly I never made myself dirty on purpose. Just knocking about in the engine bay getting to position was enough to get me all filthy and greasy. It's very dirty in there.

Having said that. The newly rebuilt engine is beautifully clean. When we last took it out a little soap and water was all it took to get clean. This is opposed to the usual 15 minute ritual with the scrub brush.

James does the most amazing lighting in all his shoots. With his skills I think he was the perfect person to capture this theme and I'm so thankful I could collaborate with him. If you would like to check out more of his work, you can do so at www.jamesdebenham.com

ReplyDeleteWow. Great photos. Very stunning. Have a fantastic weekend. Cheers!
ReplyDeleteI saw these on DA and had to put them at the top of my fav list! Any chance you know of the photographer offering prints of any of these?
ReplyDeleteHey Kurt, I don't know of him offering any prints but you can always ask! His DeviantArt account is liked via my Deviations and you could find his on there and hit 'request print'. Otherwise you could just try emailing him via his website :)
